Original cap badge of the Cameron Highlanders Regiment.
The Cameron Highlanders were a famous regiment of the British Army, best known for its distinctive Highland dress and long history. The regiment was originally raised in 1793 during the French Revolutionary Wars. It was named after Sir Alan Cameron of Erracht, who was the regiment's first colonel.
The regiment earned numerous battle decorations throughout its history, including Waterloo, the Crimean War and both World Wars. During the First World War, the Cameron Highlanders fought in many important battles, such as the Battle of the Somme and the Battle of Passchendaele.
