Beautiful, rare, Sea Gallantry Medal – Foreign Services with the inscription “Job van Eyk “Lothair” 20th November 1906″ on the side.

On November 21, 1906, the following message appeared in the NRC – Nieuwe Rotterdamsche Courant:

Good speech, November 20. A supposedly English two-masted schooner has become stranded between the iron beam and the lackluster work. The crew was rescued by the PILOT SKOTTER NO. 6 and sails to Hellevoetsluis. The schooner is full of water, probably from a leak.

Second message: The stranded and sunken English schooner breaks up. The masts are already broken. We are sent a message from Hellevoetsluis: the English schooner LOTHAIR, carrying china clay from Teignmouth to Dordrecht, sank this morning in the Slijkgat against the Goereese beach. The equipment has been transported by the PILOT SKOTTER NO. 2 rescued and installed here. Ship and cargo are totally lost. Wreckage is already afloat.
