Very nice resistance memorial cross on the rarer women's ribbon and the mini version with baton, both in the original box of Koninklijke Begeer BV from Voorschoten. The bearer of this cross is known to us and is only shared with the buyer.

The Resistance Memorial Cross is a national decoration established by Royal Decree (No. 104) on 19 December 1980 on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the liberation. The award is intended for participants in the resistance against the occupiers of Dutch territory in World War II. In total, more than 18.000 people have applied for the Cross, of which 15.300 have been awarded the Cross.

In addition to the model Resistance Memorial Cross, the person to whom the decoration was awarded could also separately request a miniature cross with baton. The model cross is only worn on official occasions, the miniature cross is for special occasions, to be chosen by the wearer.

It is a four-armed silver cross with a width of 40 millimeters. On the horizontal arm you can read the text “THE TYRANNY DRYVEN”, which is part of the sixth verse of the Wilhelmus and as such symbolizes the resistance against the occupier. The flaming sword on the horizontal arm symbolizes both the effectiveness of armed resistance and the fire of spiritual resistance. The royal crown pictured above symbolizes the connection between the resistance and the royal family. The years 1940 and 1945 are placed at the bottom of the horizontal arms.

The reverse shows the Dutch Lion in the center and on the horizontal arm the year of establishment: 1980 (above) and the abbreviation “FSINV.” (Frans Smits Inv.) And “KON.-BEGEEER VANSCHOTEN” (Royal Desire).
