Nahkampfspange Brons Friedrich Linden Lüdenscheid (FLL)

Worn Nahkampfspange (buckle for hand-to-hand combat) in bronze by the maker Friedrich Linden from Lüdenscheid with the accompanying plate.

The Nahkampfspange is a German military decoration from World War II. It is a combat badge awarded to German soldiers who had distinguished themselves in combat with the enemy in close combat, also known as "Nahkampf" in German, meaning "close combat" in English.

The Nahkampfspange was established on November 25, 1942 by the then headquarters of the German Wehrmacht. It was intended to honor soldiers who had displayed exceptional courage and perseverance in close-range combat. The medal was awarded to soldiers of all three branches of the German army (Heer, Kriegsmarine and Luftwaffe) and to the Waffen-SS.

There were different grades of the Nahkampfspange, based on the number of combat services and merits in close combat. These degrees ranged from bronze, silver to gold, with gold being the highest award. Criteria for receiving the battle badge included number of fights, number of enemies killed, exceptional leadership and other achievements displayed during close range combat. For the bronze version, this was 15 days of fighting.
