The Medaille Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42, also known as the Eastern Front Medal, was a German decoration during World War II. It was awarded to both combatant and non-combatant personnel who served on the German Eastern Front from November 15, 1941 to April 15, 1942. It was introduced on May 26, 1942. Because of the bitter Russian winter of 1941-42, it was also derisively called ' Gefrierfleischorden' (frozen meat medal).
