This medal, designed by the artist Richard Klein, was instituted on October 18, 1938 after the annexation of the Sudetenland. On the back it says “EIN VOLK – EIN REICH – EIN FUHRER” and the date October 1, 1938.
The medal was worn on a black-red-black ribbon on the left chest. In total, this medal was awarded to 1.162.617 people.
