Iron Cross 2nd Class 1939 Schinkelform – Meybauer

Iron cross 2nd class 1939 “Schinkelform” made by Paul Meybauer from Berlin. The cross has a magnetic core and is in absolute mint condition and almost unmatchable.

When Hitler reinstated the Iron Cross on September 1, 1939, manufacturers adopted the most cost-effective solution and initially used their leftover stock of Imperial Iron Cross 1914 frames. The so-called Schinkelform A-type crosses are among the earliest variations and are named after the original designer Karl Friedrich Schinkel (1813).

The Iron Cross 2nd Class was awarded for an act of bravery in the face of the enemy, or actions clearly above and beyond the call of duty.
