Unique set of NSB “Lotsverbondedheid” medal

Unique set from the NSB of which only 2 are known!

On May 9, 1941, the “internment medal” was awarded to members of the NSB who were interned during the German army invasion in May 1940. Not everyone could be present and these members received the medal by registered post with an accompanying letter. from the Secretary General of the NSB Carolus Huygen. Some of these envelopes could not be delivered because the recipient no longer lived at the address, after which this envelope was returned to the NSB headquarters. After the liberation, 2 of these (unopened) envelopes were found in the NSB headquarters on the Maliebaan in Utrecht.

1 of these envelopes arrived at us in a closed state, but was still attached to approximately 1mm of the staple, which made it easy to release. Inside the envelope was the (mimeographed) covering letter and a medal that had never been opened!

The front shows the address of the NSB member and the text “retour Utrecht”. The back says “Recipient absent, is abroad” and the PTT postmark of July 28, 1941.

The medal has the text on the front: “DETERMINATION 10-14 MAY 1940” and on the reverse the text: “DIETSCERS AND GERMANS – DRIVEN TOGETHER BY FATE – UNITED IN DANGER – CONNECTED IN THE FUTURE”.

This is the (only) opportunity for every NSB collector to obtain this unique copy!
