British Army York and Lancaster Regiment Cap Badge

The York and Lancaster Regiment was an infantry regiment of the British Army that existed from 1881 to 1968. The regiment was founded in 1881 as a merger of two former regiments: the 65th (2nd Yorkshire, North Riding) Regiment of Foot and the 84th (York and Lancaster) Regiment of Foot. The merger led to the name “The York and Lancaster Regiment” to maintain historical links with the Yorkshire and Lancashire regions.

First World War
– During the First World War (1914-1918) the regiment fought on several fronts, including the Battle of the Somme, the Battle of Passchendaele and the Battle of Arras.
– The regiment earned several awards and received numerous Battle Honors for their courage and determination.

WWII
– During World War II (1939-1945) the regiment served in North Africa, Italy, Northwestern Europe and other theaters of operation.
