Kriegsabzeichen der Marine-Artillerie – Steinhauer & Lück

Beautiful, unmarked Kriegsabzeichen der Marine-Artillerie that can be attributed to the maker Steinhauer & Lück from Lüdenscheid, not often found in this condition anymore.

The Kriegsabzeichen der Marineartillerie was worn on the lower part of the left breast pocket, under the Iron Cross 1st Class (if one also had one).

To be eligible for this award, the following criteria had to be met:

– For exceptional leadership within the gun crew group.
– For a single act of extraordinary courage for which no other award was suitable.
– In the event of death or injury during hostile actions.
– When gun crew members collect 8 points.

Searchlight and listening station crews could also qualify for this award. For them, discovering an enemy aircraft was equivalent to half a point. The following points system was in force for the gun crews:

– Downing an enemy aircraft without the help of other anti-aircraft guns earned 2 points.
– Downing an enemy aircraft with the help of other anti-aircraft guns earned 1 point.
